Recent Cases


 

The following are a few cases we have completed recently:

In March 2016 Functional Technologies' R&D team had just successfully delivered a software module for its client to incorporate FTL's patented source-oriented image clustering algorithm into INTERPOL's International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) Image Database to help establish the relationship of images in the fight against crime.

Functional Technologies has been awarded a prestigious Feasibility Studies grant by the Technology Strategy Board to conduct research into the methodologies for dealing with demosaicking distortion (i.e., error due to colour interpolation during the image acquisition process) to the "fingerprint" left in photos by the imaging devices. The methodologies will allow a "cleaner" device fingerprint to be extracted from photos for various forensics applications such as source device identification and content integrity verification.

Development of Source Digital Camera Identifier: This research is commissioned by Forensic Pathways for developing a novel method for extracting and enhancing sensor pattern noise from photos to identify the cameras that have taken the photos. This work has led to two pending patentm (UK: 0902406.5 and International: PCT/GB2010/050247) currently owned by Forensic Pathways.

Development of Unsupervised Image Classifier: This work, commissioned by Forensic Pathways, is about desgining an automatic classification system for classifying images taken by an unknown number of unknown types of cameras based on sensor pattern noise. This work, in combination with the Source Digital Camera Identifier, has led to two pending patent (UK: 0902406.5 and International: PCT/GB2010/050247) currently owned by Forensic Pathways.
